About The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in substation site development and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will support civil design efforts for high-voltage substations, renewable generation and storage assets, and other large scale civil development projects. This role requires collaboration with multi-discipline engineers, project managers, developers, permitting specialists, and contractors to deliver resilient, cost-effective substation solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead or support site civil design for greenfield and brownfield projects (grading, drainage, stormwater, access roads, fencing, and foundations).
• Develop and review construction drawings and specifications (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred).
• Coordinate with geotechnical engineers to incorporate soil and foundation data.
• Design and detail foundations for heavy substation equipment (transformers, reactors, GIS buildings).
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management designs.
• Prepare permit packages for local, state, and federal agencies (SWPPP, erosion control, land use permits).
• Support project teams during pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (NESC, ACI, ASCE, NFPA) and client-specific standards.
• Participate in site visits for feasibility studies, constructability reviews, and as-built surveys.
• Interface with renewable developers, utilities, and EPC contractors to align project scopes and schedules.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
• 5+ years of experience in civil/site design for substations, renewable energy projects preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation (required).
• Familiarity with structural analysis software (STAAD Pro, RISA) is a plus.
• Knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HydroCAD) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy project development processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
