Pipeline Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
  • Assist Project Engineers and/or Project Managers in the development and execution of a broad range of liquid and gas pipeline projects, including but not limited to high pressure transmission, gathering, and distribution pipelines.
  • Interact with Project Managers, other engineers, mappers, designers, and drafters to manage assigned technical tasks through project completion.
  • Responsible for the development of bend calculations, drill design, crossing designs, surface load calculations, pipe specifications, and overall project progress.
  • Coordinate with field and third party (Environmental or Geotechnical or Survey) personnel.
  • Review the discipline scope of work to be executed to ensure it matches project specification and/or the proposal documents as appropriate. Responsible for the technical content and quality of the work, and adherence to schedules and budgets for the assigned task or project.
  • Responsible for leading project teams and reporting on work progress.
  • Perform pipeline fluid flow rate and volume calculations.
  • Perform wall thickness calculations for price effective pipe specification.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, or related discipline
  • Five plus years pipeline engineering experience (PE preferred)
  • Experience with of pipeline design tasks such as, pipeline routing, right of way and workspace requirement development; studies on construction techniques, economic feasibility studies, front-end engineer efforts alignment sheet development, HDD design, road crossings, temporary work space, plats/sketches/deeds, non-environmental permitting, hydrostatic tests, etc.
  • Experience with Onshore Upstream and Midstream Natural Gas, Hydrocarbon Liquid, Water Pipelines, and Facilities.
  • Familiar with ASME B31.8 & B31.4 and CFR Parts 192 & 195.
  • Experience with Pipeline Project schedules and cost estimating.
  • Experience with design of Meter/Regulation Stations, MLVs, Launchers/Receivers, HDD’s.
  • Familiar with Alignment Sheets, Hydro Test Drawings, Pipeline Schematics, and Permit Drawings.
