Automation Engineer – Any Location

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for programming automation and controls systems involving PLC’s, HMI’s and RTU’s in an oil and gas field or plant setting
  • Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot PLC hardware across multiple platforms
  • Work with clients to identify desired automation and controls functionality
  • Assist in the process of Control Narrative and Cause and Effect document creation
  • Create and read logic flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation and testing, and startup
  • Manage and perform factory acceptance and site acceptance tests
  • Responsible for instrumentation calibrations, loop tuning, troubleshooting, communication installations, and SCADA integration
  • Develop and implement standard engineering practices and provide detailed documentation upon project completion

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of PLC programming/Automated systems
  • PLC Programming experience (Allen Bradley preferred)
  • Fluent in Ladder Logic and familiar with other PLC programming languages

Project Controls Manager – Centennial, CO

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure that all budgeting, scheduling and coordination processes are within the set deadlines and budget limitations
  • Manage project schedules relative to project milestones and deliverables using Microsoft Projects
  • Calculate timely and accurate monthly accruals and forecasts prior to period close
  • Review and develop high-level project schedules and processes
  • Provide estimating, budgeting, and forecasting support to the project team and assist management with annual budget preparation
  • Interface with Directors and Project Managers to ensure project team can meet current and upcoming project needs
  • Work with project team members to gather schedule updates and communicate potential schedule impacts to the Project Manager
  • Assist the Project Manager in resolving any schedule impacts working directly with the project team members
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training on project controls and scheduling processes, procedures, and standards

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Controls
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative working relationships with other departments

Senior Controls Engineer – Centennial, CO

I&C Designer – Centennial, CO

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop instrumentation and control system drawings and documents including control panel layout and bill of material, motor control schematic and wiring diagrams, I/O lists, instrument lists, installation details, instrument location drawings, control panel wiring diagrams and loop sheets
  • Perform site investigation, research catalog information, review vendor drawings, prepare field sketches, coordinate with other disciplines in the preparation of project deliverables
  • Deliver high level of quality and accuracy on produced drawings and documents in accordance with specified budget and schedule
  • Assist engineers in various stages of project design development including P&IDs, instrument index, communication network, material take off, bill of material, site layout and facility design

Education and Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of EI&C Design experience
  • Experience with P&IDs, Plan Drawings, Installation Details, Loops, Control Panel Layout, Connection and Wiring Diagrams
  • Familiarity with I&C systems and components including fiber optics, ethernet, RTUs, PLCs, radio, SCADA, MCCs, VFDs, cable systems, custody transfer metering, hazardous area design techniques and process instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC, ISA, IEEE, ANSI and other relevant industry standards

Lead Process Engineer – Centennial, CO

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for process engineering and design including process simulations, equipment sizing and specification, drafting of piping and instrumentation diagrams, developing engineering standards and performing process engineering consulting for O&G clients
  • Participate in PSM activities for facilities including maintaining facility drawings and resolving PHA action items
  • Lead major plant and pipeline maintenance capital replacement and compliance projects
  • Develop refinery improvement projects, from conception through start-up, to insure both short and long term viability of the refinery
  • Provide technical leadership for process designs from the process engineering group including technical guidance and mentoring
  • Work with clients, contractors, project managers and engineering disciplines to ensure the project execution plan is effective, comprehensive, reasonable and obtainable

EI&C Director – Centennial, CO

Overview:

The EI&C Director is responsible for managing, overseeing, supporting and helping grow the EI&C department as well as ensuring the successful delivery of projects to our customers. The Director will also have a variety of operational tasks that include quality control, department budget responsibility, personnel management and proposal writing.

The EI&C Director is a management role within Halker Consulting, LLC with both direct reports and accountability to senior leadership. The position reports to the VP of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall leadership of the EI&C Department including daily operations, development planning, employee engagement and employee accountability
  • Establish and maintain the technical standards within the EI&C Department
  • Perform reviews to ensure drawing packages are displaying consistency, constructability and following Halker standards
  • Provide training and technical direction necessary to develop department personnel to meet personal goals and client’s requirements
  • Identify staffing needs and work with recruiting to hire top talent
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company quality assurance (QA) system, policies, and procedures
  • Provides specific EI&C Engineering Subject Matter Expertise

  • Provide technical support for the design of surface facilities, low pressure gathering systems, compressor stations, high-pressure pipelines, SWD plants, water treating systems and treating facilities

Junior Piping/Mechanical Designer – Centennial, CO

Position Overview:

Halker Consulting has an opening for a Junior Piping Designer to become part of our outstanding team supporting the O&G industry. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this person will provide design of CAD based mechanical and piping drawings for O&G projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare general arrangement, mechanical and piping design drawings and sketches utilizing 3D modeling software
  • Assist Engineers with equipment layout, mechanical and piping design
  • Provide drafting support for piping and P&ID reviews
  • Create piping isometrics and fabrication drawings from coordination drawings
  • Assist with plans and schedules and prepare/maintain design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents
  • Use mathematical modeling to evaluate new developments and innovations and determine their cost effectiveness
  • Modify designs and perform retesting

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of previous design experience required
  • Extensive experience with client interfacing
  • Proficient with CADWORX

  • Perform strict adherence to and champion the Halker Project Delivery Process (PDP) for every project assigned
  • Overall responsibility for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects
